The smile symbol is a trusted mark in Taiwan. The Made in Taiwan (MIT) smile product certification system was introduced by the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) in 2000in accordance with Article 80 of the Trademark Act and Article 9 of the Commodity Labeling Act to make it easy for local/overseas consumers to identify and select products made in Taiwan. Vendors may apply for voluntary certification by an independent third-party. Products that satisfy the Made in Taiwan requirements and product certification standard (including factory quality management systems and product quality inspection systems) are authorized to use the MIT smile mark.
